Margaret Derksen
Director
Margaret Derksen has lived dance for most of her life. She has co-owned and operated the Peggy Peat School of Dance in Maple Ridge for more than 43 years.
Margaret is a lifetime member of the CDTA (Canadian Dance Teachers Association) in the Tap and Stage Division; and Dance Educators of America. Her passion is teaching swing, tap and musical theatre. Margaret has been active in community events producing theatrical benefit shows such as Rock of Ages for the Variety Clubs of BC, A Christmas Musical Fantasy for local food banks, and many Christmas shows for hospitals and senior-citizen retirement homes.
Her choreography has earned numerous awards in Canada and the U.S. Margaret's influence and philosophy has been instrumental in guiding the careers of many of her young dancers who have gone on to perform professionally on all major cruise lines, Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, The Radio City Rockettes, California Disney, the Michael Bolton Tour, Janet Jackson & much more!
